The delegation from Ugra will attend the FIDE General Assembly in Baku
The delegation from Khanty-Mansiysk autonomous region – Ugra will participate in the FIDE General Assembly that is scheduled from September’10 till September’14 in Baku, Azerbaijan to make a presentation of the capital of the region as a candidate for hosting XXXXIV Chess Olympiad.
The delegation will include the governor of Ugra Natalia Komarova, the president of the chess federation of the region Vasily Filipenko and the director of the autonomous institution “UgraMegaSport” Valery Radchenko. During the assembly the representatives of Ugra will demonstrate a video presentation showing the flavor and beauty of the region as well as inform the audience about the chess tournaments held in Ugra before. More than that, the main idea of the presentation is to show the integration of chess sport in the educational system of the region.
It is to be reminded that Khanty-Mansiysk has applied for hosting Chess Olympiad 2020 in March 2016. FIDE has approved the bid of Khanty–Mansiysk for 2020 Olympiad though a few more cities were ready to host this event. According to the director of Russian office of FIDE Berik Balgabaev, the bid of Khanty-Mansiysk was so strong that no other place was able to compete with it.
It is expected that in Baku the delegation from Ugra will get an official confirmation of approval for hosting XXXXIV Chess Olympiad 2020.
